Three Wishes

I have not always liked the idea of wishes. Seems too much like fantasy for a goal oriented get things done kinda girl. I have come to realize though that wishes are a powerful tool to open our minds to our limitless possibilities and really be creative. As I have said before reality for most of us means limits and boundaries but wishes open the door to unlimited potentials and creativity. I often use the concept of three wishes with my clients and ask them to really contemplate the question: If you had three wishes for yourself and your life what would they be? Remember, no limits, no reality, and no fear. Just ask the genie, blow out the candles, wave the magic wand and explore. What would you do, be, or have? Where would you live? What activities would you pursue? Who would you spend your time with? What would you look like? It is endless, what matters most is the three things that come up for you. In the answers found from this question are the beginnings of knowing what you really want. They are the seeds of your ideal self and life .In the end you may find that with a little effort wishes really do come true.

So, what are your three wishes ?

  3. Hi Julia :)
When I started thinking about three wishes that could improve my own life, I realized that perhaps I could start by thinking of things that would help in others lives as well. After all, maybe one route to happines is to help others, even if it's only in some small way. So what three wishes could I asked for in myself that could be beneficial to others? First, I wish to always keep in mind that everyone I know has something to teach me. Everyone has something about them that I can appreciate and learn from and I shouldn't take anyone for granted. Second, I wish to always keep an attitude of thankfulness for what I already have and not what I don't have. When I remember to do this, others have the benefit of not having to listen to me complain! That leads into what would be my third and most difficult wish; I wish that I could remember to try to keep my conversations with others to topics that are helpful or encouraging and not focusing on the negative. I know this last wish may seem impossible and it is realy more of a goal I could work toward, but impossible is not what wishes are about. That doesn't mean I should give up trying, and neither should anyone else. Thanks for stimulating my mind today and keep up the good work!

  4. Wonderful thoughts Greg! Thanks for sharing. You make some fantastic points. Thinking of others first and remaining positive and open minded will help others feel good and cared for and can be contagious and spread in impact. But you will benefit greatly as well, choosing to have such an attitude feels wonderful right? Certainly the wishes you discuss are profound in that they are the truly magical type that will positively impact your world as well as those around you. I think all you mentioned is possible, and things we should all strive for . You don"t have to be perfect at it all the time for it to be valuable and meaningful.

  5. I think the three wishes concept is really cool. I don't think people realize that the three things you wish for scale down your list of what you want for yourself considerably. It is a great tool in getting started to make headway towards where you want to be. Great article.

  6. I enjoyed the subject of this article. I think at times when we really focus on the things we wish, sometimes we find that it's not in alignment to our current life or situation. However, this does not mean that it cannot come to fruition or still appear, just in a different light. That is, my ideal situation would be to live in Austin, but currently my partner and I reside in California. This doesn't mean that we can't eventually live there. Wishes are helpful and allow dreams to become reality. Thank you for the reminder.

  7. Thank you for the reminder that sometimes what we wish for and want is set aside for other choices of things we wish for as well . We do have to choose. And wait . And trust.
